Research Associate Job Summary
BioLegend is seeking a motivated Research Associate to support the development and commercialization of ELISA and multiplex immunoassays aligned with the company’s strategic priorities. The position sits within the Product Development team and contributes to the development of sandwich ELISA and/or bead-based multiplex immunoassays, including the successful transfer of products to Quality Control, Manufacturing, and Sales & Marketing.
The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and the ability to deliver high-quality results independently following training. This is a hands-on bench-level position and offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a fast-paced biotech environment.
Candidates will be considered at Research Associate Levels I, II, or III, depending on experience and qualifications.
Essential Functions
- Perform feasibility, optimization, and validation studies for ELISA and/or bead-based multiplex immunoassay product development in a regulated environment (e.g., ISO 13485:2016)
- Develop assays for the measurement of circulating biomarkers and cytokines
- Complete required documentation for new product launches, including:
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Device Master Records (DMRs)
- Project records
- Product instructions
- Provide data-driven updates and collaborate with internal Quality Control and Manufacturing teams throughout assay development
- Prepare technical reports, protocols, summaries, and quantitative analyses
- Contribute to scientific discussions and present results to internal stakeholders
- Apply scientific principles to the design, development, and execution of experiments
- Perform hands-on bench-level laboratory work
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biological Sciences (e.g., Biology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry) or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of immunoassay methods for protein analysis, including biomarkers
- Hands-on experience with immunoassay development, optimization, or functional assays
- Experience in a manufacturing or product development environment compliant with ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 standards
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced, highly productive team environment
Compensation
The base salary for this position varies by level (I, II, or III), reflecting differences in responsibility and experience.
Level I base salary range: $54,500 – $72,500 annually
Final compensation will be determined based on internal equity, job-related skills, experience, education, training, and work location. Base salary represents one component of the total compensation package and does not include bonuses, equity, or additional benefits.
