Role Overview
The Primary Cell – Lab Staff Specialist supports the advancement of groundbreaking research initiatives through primary cell isolation and by ensuring smooth day-to-day laboratory operations. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to support ongoing scientific programs by performing primary cell isolation and cryopreservation.
In addition, the specialist is responsible for routine laboratory support tasks, including stocking consumables, preparing media, reagents, and samples, coordinating biohazardous waste handling, and assisting with inventory organization and maintenance.
This position supports both operations and analyst teams and requires a hands-on, flexible mindset with the ability to provide ad-hoc support as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Operating and Improving
- Applies a process-oriented approach to optimize cell isolation techniques, lab maintenance, and protocols with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness
- Provides insights and recommendations based on data analysis and feedback to improve laboratory processes and workflows

- Maintains systems for sharing knowledge and best practices among laboratory members
- Supports the implementation and adoption of new laboratory technologies and methodologies

Requirements for Life Science Jobs
- Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related life sciences field
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in an academic or industry setting, particularly in a primary cell isolation or laboratory support role
- Demonstrated experience with cell and molecular biology techniques, including cell isolation assays, microscopy, and aseptic technique
- Familiarity with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) guidelines and BSL-2 safety protocols
- Strong organizational skills with a detail-oriented, data-driven problem-solving approach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Flexible schedule availability, including weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with laboratory organization or inventory systems
- Experience supporting laboratory staff with solution preparation, documentation, and routine lab maintenance
- Familiarity with inventory management software and electronic laboratory notebooks
