Educational Requirements for Microbiologist role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field
  • OR 4 years of closely related experience
  • Must meet CLIA education requirements for high complexity testing labs

Key Responsibilities for Microbiologist role:

  • Process specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Perform molecular and serology assays for infectious diseases
  • Conduct necropsies for Rabies testing
  • Test validation and quality control evaluations
  • Draft, write, and update SOPs and grants
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
  • Communicate results with Epidemiologists and local partners
  • Interpret and apply DHHS policies, procedures, and regulations

Skills Required for Microbiologist role:

  • PCR and immunoassay experience
  • Knowledge of Molecular Biology and Medical Microbiology
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Experience in clinical or research laboratories
  • Ability to follow CLIA standards and high-complexity testing protocols
