Educational Requirements for Microbiology Lab Technician role:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related scientific field.
- 1–2 years of laboratory experience preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct environmental monitoring of air and water systems, including bioburden, bacterial endotoxin, and particulate testing.
- Perform routine and specialized testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products according to SOPs.
- Prepare biological media, chemical reagents, glassware, and laboratory equipment for microbiology testing.
- Maintain inventory of lab consumables to support uninterrupted operations.
- Issue Certificates of Analysis (CoA) and Certificates of Compliance (CoC) accurately.
- Assist in investigations of non-conforming materials and out-of-specification (OOS) results.
- Participate in developing and validating new test procedures and refining existing protocols.
- Document all lab work in detail to maintain accurate records.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment.
Skills Required for Microbiology Lab Technician role:
- Knowledge of aseptic technique, bioburden testing, endotoxin testing, and environmental monitoring.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex procedures.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced laboratory setting.
