Educational Requirements for the Lab Tech Role:
- Minimum one year completed toward a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or Food Technology
Work Schedule
- 40 hours per week
- Generally Monday–Friday
- Rotating shifts: 4:00 AM – 12:30 PM and 7:30/8:30 AM – 3:30/4:30 PM
- Must be flexible to work Saturdays/Sundays based on production needs
Key Responsibilities:
- As a Lab Tech, you should ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Monitor employee practices through regular time on the production floor
- Conduct plant and equipment inspections to meet food safety standards
- Collect samples and swabs; perform laboratory testing and calibration in the Lab Tech Role
- Sample, test, and evaluate ingredients, packaging, water, air, in-process, and finished products
- Address GMP deviations and implement corrective actions
- Collect, ship, and coordinate external laboratory testing in the Quality Assurance Jobs at Agropur
- Perform HACCP, CIP, COP, SOP, and 5S monitoring and documentation
- Enter, analyze, summarize, and report quality data
- In the Lab Tech Role, you should be able to hold, sample, and re-test materials or products outside specifications
- Complete assigned daily tasks independently or within a team
Skills & Experience Required for the Lab Tech Role:
- Understanding of Quality and Food Safety Programs and documentation control
- Knowledge of HACCP and basic food industry laboratory test methods
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage changing priorities and work independently
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
- Prior quality experience preferred
- Food or dairy manufacturing experience preferred
- GFSI-accredited facility experience preferred
- Basic laboratory equipment experience preferred
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting wage: $32.26/hour
