Educational Requirements for Research Services Professional role:
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related field
- Preferred: Master’s degree in relevant field
- Relevant laboratory experience preferred but not required
- Combination of education and technical experience may substitute for degree requirements
Key Responsibilities for Research Services Professional role:
- Develop and implement new or modified laboratory techniques (60% of work)
- Coordinate human subjects sample collection and study visits
- Perform experiments: flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, RNA/protein isolation, qRT-PCR, western blotting
- Use transcriptomic and proteomic approaches for research analysis
- Maintain meticulous records in electronic laboratory notebooks (40% of work)
- Order and inventory lab supplies, maintain equipment, and ensure lab compliance
- Assist Principal Investigator in managing finances and regulatory compliance
- Participate in lab meetings, local research network coordination, and manuscript preparation
- Mentor and teach other lab members and students
