Scientist Job Role Summary

The Scientist – Oncology Research will contribute to research and drug discovery programs within the oncology pipeline. The role requires an innovative and agile individual with a strong interest in cancer biology and drug discovery, along with a commitment to professional development and peer collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently plan and execute experiments, generate and analyze data, and present results along with next steps to support oncology drug discovery programs.
  • Troubleshoot experiments, assays, and procedures, and develop alternative experimental approaches when needed.
  • Recommend innovative solutions using scientific knowledge, creativity, and independent thinking.
  • Collaborate with scientists across RED ONC and R&D teams to advance drug development programs and support cross-team and cross-site activities.
  • Interpret and communicate scientific findings effectively in discussions and departmental meetings.
  • Stay current with advancements in the field and contribute to scientific literature.
  • Maintain accurate, updated, and audit-ready laboratory notebooks.
  • Potentially manage a Cell Bank.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and perform experiments, including assays, method development, validation, scale-up, or operations.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot problems requiring original thought.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the relevant field, including literature, technologies, and regulations.
  • Ability to apply scientific principles to experiment design and data interpretation.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in selecting appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria.
  • Capability to solve routine to complex scientific and operational problems using deductive reasoning.
  • Ability to prepare reports, interpret experimental results, and present findings.
  • Experience working within a project team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Word and Excel.
  • Ability to learn and apply business systems such as SAP.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 2–4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in Cell Bank management, including maintaining and expanding mammalian cell lines, managing inventory and documentation, preparing and shipping samples, ensuring quality control, and supporting logistics related to material transfer agreements and legal documentation.

Compensation and Benefits For Scientist Job

  • Salary Range: $92,792 – $139,188
  • Additional compensation may include bonuses or commissions (if applicable).
  • Benefits include healthcare, vision, dental, retirement plans, paid time off (PTO), and sick leave.
