About the Department
Novo Nordisk’s New Hampshire site in West Lebanon is where life-saving treatments are brought to life. This manufacturing facility produces a global supply of hemophilia and growth hormone products, along with next-generation, cutting-edge medications.
The Position
This 12-week MSAT Internship provides hands-on, full-time experience within a 24/7 commercial-scale bioproduction facility. Interns work closely with experienced industry professionals and contribute meaningful project work that supports business operations.
This role offers STEM students marketable experience within Manufacturing Sciences & Technology (MSAT) in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include drug substance manufacturing process support, laboratory-scale experimentation, process improvement initiatives, and manufacturing optimization projects. Projects focus on improving efficiency and reducing waste in cell culture, fermentation, and purification processes.
Essential Functions
- Support MSAT department initiatives to enhance the visibility and robustness of internal systems
- Assist with validation activities and process parameter studies
- Develop and support process data visualization tools
- Support laboratory studies in:
- Cell culture
- Purification
- Analytical functional areas
- Perform upstream protein expression and metabolic analysis
- Support downstream protein purification and sample analysis using techniques such as HPLC, MS, Raman, ELISA, and others
- Manage multiple priorities in a complex environment under MSAT mentor guidance
- Execute departmental projects and provide regular stakeholder updates
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
- Use tools such as Microsoft Office, JMP, and other systems to create reports, timelines, tables, graphs, and presentations
- Perform duties in compliance with healthcare laws, regulations, and industry codes
- Incorporate the Novo Nordisk Way and 10 Essentials into all activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications For STEM Internship
- Currently enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM discipline
- Strong academic performance with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter with project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask effectively
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; ability to work independently and cross-functionally
- Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, flexibility, and willingness to learn
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related tools
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.
