Role Overview
The Bioprocess Development Intern will support Bioprocess Development projects, gaining hands-on experience in process development and industrialization of cell culture–based products, including therapeutic proteins. This role offers extensive on-the-job training and exposure to key biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Comply with laboratory safety requirements, environmental guidelines, and SOPs
- Prepare reagents and materials (solutions, media, plates) to support experiments
- Support technical activities such as:
- Cell culture at various scales
- Operation of different types of bioreactors
- Purification and analytical experiments
- Conduct and support analytical assays, including:
- ELISA
- Growth assays
- In-process bioanalysis
- Assemble and disassemble:
- Cell culture and fermentation vessels
- Sampling, harvesting, filtration, formulation, purification, filling, lyophilization, and bulk freeze/thaw equipment
- Assist with calibration and maintenance of key laboratory equipment
- Record and populate experimental data accurately
Qualifications For Student Internship
- Commitment of at least 6 months (9–12 months preferred)
- Availability of 16–24 working hours per week minimum
- Current student in Life Sciences, or related fields
- Experience following laboratory safety protocols
- Preferred experience in:
- Preparing solutions, media, and plates
- Equipment setup and changeover
- Strongly preferred background in:
- Sterile techniques
- Cell culture and fermentation
- Purification processes
- HPLC, ELISA, growth assays
- Familiarity with computer-based systems
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Team-oriented, accountable, and adaptable
