Educational Requirements for the Summer Internship:
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Completed a Bachelorโs Degree within the past year
- Currently pursuing a Masterโs Degree
- Completed a Masterโs Degree within the past year
- Currently pursuing a PhD

Key Responsibilities of the Biochemistry Intern Role:
- Work onsite in a wet-lab molecular diagnostics environment
- Collaborate with experts in microbiology and assay development
- Participate in the design, development, testing, and optimization of qPCR-based diagnostic assays
- Gain experience using Rocheโs cobas 5800/6800/8800 platforms
- Analyze data, summarize results, and present findings in weekly meetings
- Present at a final poster session
- Gain insight into quality control, data handling, and biotech industry workflows
Skills Required for the Biochemistry Intern Role:
Required Skills:
- Basic molecular biology wet-lab experience
- Knowledge of nucleic acid extraction, RT-PCR, and qPCR
- Ability to follow experimental guidance and work independently
- Familiarity with sterile techniques and safe handling of biological/hazardous materials
Preferred Skills:
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Understanding of NGS technologies
- Experience growing bacterial cultures and performing DNA/RNA extraction
