Job Description
The Molecular Genetics Technologist will be an essential part of our Molecular Genetics department at CMBP, where we conduct a diverse range of genetic tests for various heritable disorders using advanced scientific techniques.
Job Responsibilities
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
- Perform PCR based genetic testing in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
- Utilize a wide array of instrumentation, including Tecan, ABI 3730, and QIAgen QIAxcel instruments.
- Accurately enter results of testing and review reports to ensure accuracy.
Requirements
- B.A./B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or related life science field.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience with human specimens.
- Previous experience with molecular biology techniques, such as PCR and/or gel electrophoresis preferred.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proficient with computers and laboratory information systems.
Shift: 3rd shift, Monday-Friday 11:00pm-7:30am
