Role Description:
The summer intern will work directly with mentor(s) within Downstream Processing of Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Research and Development. The mentor(s) will act as a liaison, mentor, guide, and coach through all aspects of training, project research, and the final report and template drafting.
Internship Summary:
Under the direction of the mentor(s), perform downstream process development (DSPD) related activities (including process sustainability and cost analysis) to evaluate, analyze, and summarize experimental results. The candidate will be responsible for presenting the research findings at the end of the internship term to a wider audience.
Internship Job Duties:
- Work with a technical liaison in a mentor/mentee team approach.
- Perform routine DSPD unit operations by leveraging and expanding knowledge in various modes of chromatography and filtration technologies.
- Collaborate with colleagues and cross-functional SMEs to execute DSP experiments ensuring timely completion of experiments.
- Communicate with manufacturing counterparts and collect downstream process related data at large manufacturing scale.
- Use software tools to compile and interpret data to assess product recovery and purity and to perform cost analysis.
Internship Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university (undergraduate junior/senior or graduate preferred) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, or related disciplines.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher is required. Must demonstrate excellent attention to detail qualities and a strong conscientious work ethic. Good mathematical and data analysis skills desired.
- Theoretical and hands-on experience/background in macromolecule (protein, antibody) purification using various modes of chromatography is highly preferred.
Hourly Pay Rates:
Based on the level of education:
- Anticipated base pay for a selected candidate in other locations: $16.00 (Associate-level), $20.00 (Undergraduate-level), $32.50 (Graduate-level), $36.00 (Doctorate-level).
- Anticipated base pay for a selected candidate in specific locations: $17.00 (Associate-level), $22.00 (Undergraduate-level), $36.40 (Graduate-level), $40.30 (Doctorate-level).
