Position Overview

The role involves collaboration with Operations, Development, Regulatory, and Project teams to address operational considerations such as manufacturability, quality, cost, and scheduling. The specialist helps ensure seamless integration of new diagnostic products while maintaining the organization’s high-quality standards, cost management, and delivery timelines.
The position requires applying program management skills, technical expertise, lean manufacturing principles, and an end-to-end understanding of manufacturing processes. Through systematic analysis, scientific methodologies, and data-driven solutions, the specialist supports process optimization and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
The role also includes identifying and mitigating project risks, supporting timely delivery of new products, and assisting with product transfers between sites or suppliers within the United States. The specialist contributes to cross-department collaboration, operational alignment with tissue diagnostics standards, and preparation of documentation for internal and external audits.
Additionally, the role involves participating in training and knowledge-sharing activities to develop technical expertise within the design transfer team. The position may also support product transfers between sites or suppliers when required.
Key Responsibilities
Product and Process Transfer
- Assist in executing product design transfer tasks from late-stage development through launch.
- Support planning and coordination of new product or process transfers from R&D to manufacturing, including transfers to external sites.
- Collaborate with operations stakeholders to achieve transfer milestones and ensure efficient product transfers.
Project Support and Process Optimization
- Assist project teams in understanding and documenting end-to-end manufacturing best practices, scalability considerations, and manufacturing requirements for transfer projects.
- Utilize established project management tools and methodologies to complete assigned transfer tasks within defined timelines.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and best practices to improve transfer processes.
Technical and Operational Support
- Contribute guidance to product transfer teams with oversight from senior members.
- Support troubleshooting activities and collect required data during the transfer process.
- Execute transfer processes according to standard work procedures while participating in workflow optimization initiatives.
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes to improve transfer efficiency and deliver cost-effective, high-quality outcomes.
Validation and Compliance
- Support process validation readiness by collecting required documentation and data.
- Collaborate with validation engineers and stakeholders to ensure transfer requirements are met before, during, and after execution.
- Assist in preparing documentation and data for internal and external audits to maintain compliance with industry regulations.
Collaboration and Professional Development
- Build relationships with internal stakeholders including lifecycle, regulatory, and quality teams to promote effective collaboration and communication.
- Execute assigned tasks independently while seeking guidance for complex decisions.
- Participate in mentorship and coaching programs provided by senior Technical Transfer Specialists to support continuous professional development.
Education for Life Science Jobs
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, or a related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of directly relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related industry is preferred.
- Experience operating in a regulated environment under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is required.
Process Improvement Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles is required.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.
- Experience in product transfer within medical device, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industries is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Foundational understanding of applying scientific methods to process transfer tasks and design-for-manufacturability approaches.
- Basic understanding of the end-to-end production process for assays and reagents, including formulation, filling, and packaging.
- Advanced technical writing skills for producing reports and documentation.

Compensation for Life Science Jobs
The expected annual salary range for this position in Tucson, Arizona is $60,600 – $112,500 USD, depending on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
