Roles & Responsibilities:

  • In this Biology Internship at Biogen, you should support exploratory discovery research focused on Friedreich’s ataxia
  • Design, execute, and analyze molecular and cell-based experiments
  • Perform qPCR, ddPCR, gel electrophoresis, and western blot analysis
  • Conduct mammalian cell culture and plasmid transfection or viral transduction
  • Work with human iPSC-derived neurons and established cell lines in this Biology Internship in the USA
  • Perform immunostaining, fluorescence microscopy, and quantitative image analysis
  • Support functional characterization through co-localization and morphology assessments
  • Participate in experimental planning, troubleshooting, and data interpretation
  • In this Internship, you should deliver well-documented datasets, figures, and experimental summaries

Education & Eligibility Required for the Biology Internship:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Preferred majors:
    • Cell Biology
    • Molecular Biology / Biochemistry
    • Neuroscience
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited academic institution
  • Must be 18 years or older before the start date
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Technical Skills & Learning Opportunities:

  • Cell culture and molecular biology techniques
  • qPCR and transfection methods
  • Western blot (standard or capillary)
  • Immunofluorescent cell-based assays
  • Functional cellular assays (e.g., multi-electrode array recording)
  • Data analysis and visualization using GraphPad Prism

Compensation & Benefits for the Biology Internship:

  • Hourly Pay Range: $23.00 – $29.00
