QA Analyst Position Summary

The QA Analyst role is based at the Babelegi Factory and is responsible for maintaining product quality by ensuring all products manufactured there meet required quality standards. The role includes coordinating sensory sessions, managing product release and rework processes, and ensuring that on-time release targets are met. The position also requires maintaining accurate records of ICPs and ensuring that Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards are consistently followed.
Key Responsibilities
Sensory
- Ensure that sensory best practices are followed during sensory sessions.
- Ensure the availability of correct reference samples for all products.
- Coordinate sensory sessions and daily release of finished products while maintaining an attendance register.
- Conduct ICPs for the main laboratory on a daily basis.
- Perform weekly spiking of finished-product panels and update the performance-tracking spreadsheet.
- Maintain a selection of standard approval samples for all products.
- Verify that condensate samples are analyzed per shift and communicate any out-of-specification results to industrial services.
- Ensure that inline sensory evaluations are conducted daily in accordance with sensory best practices.
- Assist in product quality investigations.
- Support the achievement of factory objectives through line verification during filling and packaging operations.
Microbiology
- Prepare samples, conduct analyses, and report results within defined turnaround times, in accordance with strict work planning and GLP standards.
- Conduct pathogen monitoring by taking factory swabs and performing analysis according to the sampling plan.
- Ensure the pathogen monitoring plan remains up to date and compliant with relevant standards.
- Prepare required media and perform sample analyses, reporting results within the allocated timeframe.
- Communicate and participate in investigations when out-of-specification results occur.
- Verify compliance with pathogen monitoring plans and share identified gaps with the Food Safety and Sanitation team.
- Conduct weekly hygiene inspections within the plant and perform plant release when required.
- Participate in proficiency testing programs involving mixed microbial samples (e.g., “L”, “S”).
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and arrange repairs for faulty equipment.
- Maintain records of equipment repairs, calibrations, and analytical method controls.
Product Re-evaluation
- Prepare finished product samples for re-evaluation.
- Conduct a second examination sampling in the warehouse when required.
- Assist with rework product release.
General Responsibilities
- Compile sensory trial reports.
- Prepare and evaluate industrial batch samples.
- Prepare retention samples for consumer complaint investigations.
- Label retention samples and store them in sequence on designated shelves.
- Evaluate KQ samples at defined intervals.
Sensory Best Practice / ICP
- Ensure sensory best practices are maintained within the main laboratories.
- Conduct daily calibration checks for weighing scales.
- Verify coding on finished products.
- Implement new analytical methods when laboratory instructions are updated.
- Ensure sensory equipment and facilities remain clean, organized, and operational.
Education Required for QA Jobs
- Degree or Diploma in Food Technology or Biotechnology.
Experience
- 1–2 years of experience in sensory analysis, microbiology, or chemistry.
Skills and Knowledge Required
- Sensory analysis techniques.
- Product quality investigations.
- Experience with SAP enterprise software.
- Experience with LabWare LIMS or similar laboratory information management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Windows-based systems.
- Ability to escalate issues to the appropriate responsible functional personnel.
- Capability to support the Consumer Feedback and Sensory Specialist when they are on leave or unavailable.
