Research Assistant Job Role Overview
The organization is seeking a Research Assistant – Preclinical Oncology to support in-life operations for preclinical oncology studies within a fast-paced Contract Research Organization (CRO) environment. This role is suited for candidates with hands-on experience in tumor-bearing animal models, strong technical skills, and an interest in contributing to both GLP and non-GLP regulated studies.
The Research Assistant will work directly with animal models, performing dosing, handling, tumor measurements, cell inoculations, and other study-related laboratory tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-life activities for preclinical oncology studies
- Handle small animals and tumor-bearing models
- Conduct animal dosing procedures
- Perform tumor measurement and cell inoculation
- Apply aseptic techniques during study procedures
- Support additional research and study-related tasks as required
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a CRO performing in vivo oncology studies
- At least 1 year of experience in animal tumor measurement and cell inoculation
- Minimum of 1 year of small animal handling experience
- At least 1 year of animal dosing experience
- Mammalian cell culture experience preferred but not required
Education Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology or a related program
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, or a related life science field
- Two or more years of college coursework in a related science field and 1–2 years of hands-on large or small animal care experience in laboratory, research, or farming operations
