Dow has an exciting opportunity for an R&D/TS&D Technologist in Collegeville, PA. The R&D/TS&D Technologist provides a variety of complex technical support to Lead Scientists and Technologist Leaders in the preparation and execution of experimental activities. Acts as a primary focal point for technical support of a process, program, product, or application within the workgroup and for internal/external clients and customers.
Provides technical support for product development, application development, technical service, and/or product or process research. Achieves project goals using technical, role-specific skills and experience, and introduces new procedures for new instrument methods, equipment changes, or new equipment.

Required Qualifications:
A minimum requirement for this U.S.-based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or training in the chemical lab and or industrial lab setting.
Background in organic chemistry and radical polymerization processes. Experience with air-sensitive techniques is a plus.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent and one of the following:
- Associates degree in Chemistry, Biology, or in a science discipline plus 5 years relevant experience
- Bachelors’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, or in science discipline is required. In lieu of a degree, Dow will accept 4 or more years of relevant military experience.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Comfortable moving between various types of chemistries and projects.
- Familiarity with standard analyses and/or willingness to take on additional training (e.g., NMR).
- Familiarity and comfort with stoichiometry and general math skills to be able to create and edit run sheets.

- Attention to details and working safely in the lab
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills are required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Key Responsibilities:
- Handles complex laboratory/pilot plant tasks including complex methods and procedures and recommends variations in problem approach with little or no supervision.
- Holds essential know-how on the safe operation of experimentation and on stewardship process, and implements these to Dow standard.
- Independently develops and implements experimental plans and acts responsible for a wide variety of complex laboratory/pilot plant tasks requiring complex approaches and procedures.
- Uses knowledge of the relevant technology consisting of product, test method, and testing equipment to quickly screen alternative approaches and recommends and implements variations in approaches.
- Understands the group objectives and the business or group’s value-creating strategy and is an important contributor to the technical solutions that result in project and team success.
- Trains other workgroup members and contractors on specific work processes, equipment, and machinery.
- Defines and implements new testing methods for development purposes which may require creating unique configurations of existing equipment or development/fabrication of new equipment and systems.
- Identifies the need for and is involved in implementing new processes, procedures or technology to improve performance of workgroup.
