Educational Requirements for microbiologist role:
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field
Key Responsibilities for microbiologist role:
- Perform routine and non-routine microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and environmental samples per regulatory standards (USP, EP, JP)
- Implement and manage environmental monitoring programs to maintain aseptic conditions
- Develop, validate, and optimize microbiological methods for microorganism detection, enumeration, and identification
- Conduct quality control checks on media, reagents, and laboratory equipment
- Maintain accurate records, prepare SOPs, technical reports, and other documentation
- Adhere to GLP and GMP protocols, participating in internal and external audits
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams
- Train and mentor lab assistants, operators, and engineers in microbiology principles and cleanroom practices
- Support continuous learning, process improvement, and team development
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned to meet organizational needs
Skills Required for microbiologist role:
- Experience in pharmaceutical or biotech microbiology laboratories (minimum 2 years preferred)
- Proficiency in sterility testing, endotoxin testing, microbial identification, and antimicrobial effectiveness testing
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment including autoclaves, incubators, and biosafety cabinets
- Understanding of FDA, EMA, and ICH microbiology regulations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse teams
