Position Overview
The Assay Product Development Intern role is designed for a highly motivated student seeking hands-on laboratory experience and technical skill development. The intern will support assay and product development activities, contributing to laboratory operations, data analysis, and documentation within a collaborative research environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for assignments involving preparation of chemical buffers and operation of diagnostic instruments
- Participate in testing and investigations related to the development of new designs, methods, materials, or processes
- Obtain, correlate, and analyze technical data to complete semi-complex tasks
- Assist with the preparation of reports, charts, graphs, and other technical documentation
- Support laboratory equipment maintenance and ensure adherence to laboratory safety practices
Skills & Knowledge Development
This role is well suited for candidates who are familiar with, or interested in further developing, the following:
- Knowledge of immunoassay principles
- Basic chemistry and biochemistry concepts, including buffer systems, enzymes, surfactants, and preservatives
- Proficiency with PC applications such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to clearly communicate technical information verbally and in writing
- Willingness to perform hands-on laboratory experiments, including work with potentially biohazardous human and animal serum and plasma
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Biology, Biochemistry, and Biochemical Engineering
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 (preferred)
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Pay Range: $29.00 – $38.00 (based on education, skills, and experience)
- Paid time off is provided for interns
