Program Overview

Campbell Soup Company is looking for a student in Food Science for a 12-week internship starting in August in the External Innovation & Scouting team. The selected candidate will work under the direction of the Senior Scientist and gain exposure to projects focused on technical and non-technical scouting efforts. The selected individual will assist in successful identification and utilization of external technologies and concepts to accelerate Innovation and Renovation agenda.  Scope is across Campbell categories – snacks and M&B with focus on ingredients, processing, packaging, products and sustainability. The intern will interface with cross functional teams including food and applied scientists, nutrition, product developers, corporate sustainability, IT and legal. Candidates must be in their MS program in Food Science or a related field.  Students will be part of the team and will work alongside experienced professionals on critical project initiatives.

Your Opportunity

  • Assist to develop and implement a pipeline of projects with external or internal partners that deliver sustainable value for R&D and the enterprise
  • Participate in partnerships with Start-up Incubators for purposes of new technology scouting for the enterprise
  • Utilizes scouting tools to develop and communicate technology signals and insights to key stakeholders
  • Works with BU Technical Solutions teams to deliver external perspective and capability enabling better, more sustainable and differentiated solutions for front of funnel innovation and enablers

Job Complexity

  • Candidate must be able to organize, manipulate and analyze data, draw appropriate conclusions, provide feedback and recommendations and draft clear and concise reports.

What you’ll need

  • Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Food Science or a related program
  • 3.0 GPA or higher preferred
  • Prior internship experience in the food industry or research experience in University is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and intermediate/advanced skill in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Data management and assessment skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter, works independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work comfortably in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
