Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biology, or related life sciences preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Key Responsibilities of Laboratory Technician Role:
- Prepare samples and reagents, perform DNA extraction, and conduct quality checks before genotyping.
- Support high-throughput data generation on primary and secondary genomics platforms.
- Operate and maintain laboratory robotic systems, liquid handling equipment, and analytical instruments.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, including LIMS entries, sample archives, and notebooks.
- Train and support new technicians, assistants, and interns.
- Monitor inventory, order supplies, and maintain laboratory instruments.
- Follow SOPs, ISO procedures, and safety protocols consistently.
- Contribute ideas to improve lab efficiency and workflow.
Skills Required for Laboratory Technician Role:
- Familiarity with molecular biology techniques (DNA extraction, PCR, genotyping).
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot automated systems and robotic platforms.
- Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
