The Position
The Research Technician will be part of a team of highly skilled scientists and technicians working to deliver innovative biological entity candidates for proof-of-concept (POC) evaluation. The incumbent will coordinate multiple approaches with internal and external collaborators in line with agreed priorities. She/He will conduct research in the field of animal health focused on innovative new biological entities to meet unmet needs in non-infectious disease prevention in animal health. The technician is expected to support projects in relation to internal and external collaborators. The incumbent may communicate with scientists and academics and adopt new technologies. In addition, she/he should possess the necessary interpersonal skills to establish productive relationships simultaneously with internal scientific colleagues and external consultants/experts, as needed. Moreover, she/he should be passionate about their work and maintain a positive attitude. Exceptional flexibility and adaptability, a sense of responsibility, and a willingness to travel internationally are also sought after.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Design and implement experimental protocols, ensuring technical execution and results monitoring.
- Conduct scientific monitoring in the respective field, including information retrieval, analysis, synthesis, and communication with R&D laboratories and project teams.
- Collaborate with the manager to develop innovative methods.
- Propose a schedule of activities to meet project deadlines.
- Independently manage assigned tasks.
- Demonstrate responsiveness, critical thinking, and decision-making skills in challenging technical situations.
- Ensure the reliability and traceability of obtained results.
- Deliver presentations within and across departments.
Desired Profile
Master of Science in Life Science, Veterinary, or related field, or DUT Biochemistry, or related area with 2 years practical experience. Expert knowledge of English is essential, working knowledge of French is an asset. Experience working in biosafety level 2 (or higher) lab setting.
Characteristics of the Ideal Candidate
Minimum of two years of laboratory experience, specifically with expertise in the production and/or characterization of antibodies (biophysical or functional characterization using cellular assays), along with proficiency in data processing and results reporting. Expertise in one or more of the following areas, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, and one more of the following techniques, flow cytometry, chromatography, DLS (Dynamic Light Scattering), DSF (Differential Scanning Fluorescence) / DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) or SPR (Surface Plasmon Resonance) will be an advantage.
