Summer Internship Overview
The Hershey Company is seeking a Summer Intern to support the Digital Quality team within Quality & Regulatory Compliance. This internship focuses on Digital Quality–related Food Safety and Food Quality functions and offers the opportunity to manage and support small-to-medium-sized projects.
The role provides meaningful, hands-on experience in the digital transformation of food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, supporting initiatives across data analytics, automation, and process optimization.
Overview of Internship & Potential Projects
Data Analytics & Data Science
- Create actionable metrics to capture risk modeling related to food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
- Develop scorecards and reports to evaluate product excellence programs
- Leverage datasets from software systems used across food safety and quality
- Support initiatives in:
- Supplier Quality Management
- Quality Incident Management
- Master Sanitation Scheduling
- Environmental Microbiological Monitoring
- Laboratory Information Management
- Product Lifecycle Management
- Internal and External Auditing
- Innovation and R&D
- Create and execute data governance processes for food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance data
- Evaluate data integrity and process mapping to improve data hygiene
- Use digital tools for horizon scanning and compliance monitoring
- Manage individual projects while supporting broader Digital Quality initiatives

Business Process Mapping & Automation
- Map end-to-end business processes across food safety and quality teams to enable automation and optimization

- Develop PowerApps or Python applications for:

- Product Excellence Programs
- Food Defense
- Apply Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), or Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to improve processes
- Manage individual projects while supporting other Digital Quality initiatives
Required Skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

- Strong computer proficiency

Requirements for Summer Internship
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program
