Job Summary

Nestlé Food Science Manager

The primary purpose of this role is to support technical, operational, commercial and financial aspects of a group of contract manufacturer directly associated with the Nestle Coffee Partners. This person will partner with the NCP Co-Manufacturing team to enable and build a pipeline of new products and capabilities. Additionally, this role will help enable new coffee manufacturing technologies and capabilities to solve manufacturing challenges for new-to-the-world, leading-edge coffee products.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Nestlé Food Science Manager

• Support all start-up and operational aspects at a group of Contract manufacturing sites, including compliance with Nestlé systems, QA procedures, product formulas, GMP’s, MRP, development and maintenance of SOP’s, training and HACCP’s

• Provide strong support for running the operations, via working directly with the operators and supervisors on the floor, as well as the management team and owners

• Ensure that a continuous improvement plan is in place to provide the lowest total delivered costs within the agreed-to quality parameters

• Identify products within the portfolio that could be cost-optimized via more efficient components and/or manufacturing

• Ensure accurate startup of new products at facilities, achieving agreed-upon timelines and compliance with Nestle requirements

• Ensure performance targets for assigned sites are being adhered to – including attainment, budgeting, costs (e.g. usage, PPV, tolling), Savings targets and monthly variance reconciliation

• Achieve a targeted cost savings amount against budgeted standards

• Prior to the startup of any new item, ensure all required production-related documentation is complete and available to the co-manufacturer

• Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between the co-manufacturer and key internal interfaces to drive innovation & renovation project execution

• Provide project leadership to coordinate cross-functional activities at contract manufacturer to ensure the project is executed against timelines and budgets (PRO)

• Ensure all co-manufacturers are fully aligned with Nestlé requirements and contract manufacturing agreements

Qualifications

Requirements and Minimum education level:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related fields required

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years experience required

• Technical or manufacturing experience in CPG product, process or packaging development and/or commercialization required

• Experience leading a cross-functional project team to bring a product to market preferred

• Working knowledge of finance and plant costing

• Knowledge of SAP & Microsoft Excel

• Broad technical skills and understanding in:
– Manufacturing process and product interaction
– Loss analysis
– Product development process and procedures
– Quality Assurance

• Travel required: approximately 50% (will vary depending on workload)
