Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters in Basic Sciences, with 0-3 years experience in biological processes or analytics in a cGMP environment.

Position Overview:
The Analytical Sciences Department within Sanofi Pasteur in Swiftwater, PA is seeking a highly motivated and independent lab-based Associate Scientist in molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, DNA or RNA manipulations, qPCR, and sequencing. This individual will provide technical solutions by applying expertise in Molecular Biology, in particular high-throughput sequencing for various types of projects including release test development, characterization testing and manufacturing investigation support. The associate scientist will also be responsible for routine testing, assay optimization, experimental design, method validation and transfer. He or she may also be responsible for maintaining the facilities and instrumentation, including safety and compliance aspects of the laboratory and the staff working in it, as well as the physical maintenance of the instrumentation. The associate scientist is required to work both independently as well as within a variety of site and project or investigative teams, and will effectively communicate proposals and data analysis in both written and informal or formal presentations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply scientific expertise to select appropriate assays for the characterization and quality control of vaccines and other products to support the manufacturing processes and develop test methods for use as release, stability, and/or characterization assays for new vaccine and commercial products.
- Test method development encompasses literature search, feasibility assessment, assay optimization, and qualification/validation.
- Provide scientific guidance for data interpretation, analysis, and suitability of test methods, keeps abreast of relevant technology development and assists with implementation of new technologies into the Platform with a technical focus on mass spectrometry.
- Implement and maintain GMP compliant instruments and testing where required, keep up-to-date on relevant quality, regulatory, and GMP environments.
- Author analytical method development procedures, development, and validation reports.
- Support routine release and stability testing of clinical products by performing analysis and/or reviewing and approving data.
- Support routine release and stability testing of clinical products (proteins, polysaccharides, and conjugate vaccines) by performing analysis and/or reviewing and approving data.
- Train departmental staff on assays.
- Clear and effective communication with stakeholders within and across relevant departments and project teams.
