The Pharma Partnering Intern Position
This internship provides hands-on exposure to pharmaceutical business development and partnering strategy within a global healthcare leader. You will work closely with cross-functional and international teams, gaining insight into deal-making, strategy, and scientific evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with global teams including:
- Genentech Research & Development (South San Francisco)
- Pharma Research & Development (Basel)
- Roche Innovation Centers (Shanghai)
- Global Product Development (South San Francisco)
- Roche China (Shanghai)
- Support the definition of strategic areas of interest and execution of partnering strategies
- Assist in sourcing new therapeutic opportunities aligned with technology and therapeutic area priorities
- Network with pharmaceutical, biotech, venture capital, and academic partners
- Support decision-making and deal processes, including preparation of presentations and recommendations for senior management
- Participate in scientific and strategic evaluations and cross-functional due diligence reviews
- Contribute to the development of novel deal structures and contract negotiations
- Occasionally travel to support negotiations and build internal alignment for key deals
- Learn from and receive coaching from Asia Pharma Partnering colleagues on managing deal and diligence processes
Education
Currently pursuing an advanced degree in:
- Life Sciences
- Related fields
Skills & Experience
- Strong interest in business development and pharma partnering
- Coursework or experience in healthcare transactions, negotiation, or deal-making is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Energetic, self-motivated, and results-oriented
- Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Solid understanding of pharmaceutical R&D and commercialization processes (advantageous)
- Excellent business instincts with exposure to analytics and valuation methodologies
