Educational Requirements for the Research Coordinator role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or equivalent
  • Experience with clinical research is preferred
  • Technical proficiency and the ability to work both independently and in a team

Key Responsibilities for the Research Coordinator role:

  • Submit and manage IRB protocols, including amendments and continuing reviews
  • Coordinate study activities with Dr. Otero, PIs, and team members across clinical, legal, finance, compliance, and laboratory functions
  • Manage patient-facing aspects, including screening, enrollment, consent, and follow-up visits
  • Oversee the informed consent process and maintain regulatory compliance
  • Collect and manage clinical data, ensuring patient privacy
  • Access and utilize EMR systems (EPIC) and databases (REDCap) securely
  • Train and provide guidance to study team members
  • Conduct literature searches and data analyses in collaboration with Biostatistics and Bioinformatics
  • Contribute to reports, presentations, manuscripts, and departmental meetings

Skills Required for Research Coordinator role:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to follow detailed protocols and instructions
  • Proficient with computers and software
  • Experience handling confidential information
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with investigators and hospital staff
  • Preferred 2+ years of relevant experience
