Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Key Responsibilities for Biorepository Associate Role:
- Recruit patients for Biorepository participation in clinical research studies
- Obtain informed consent and explain study procedures and confidentiality
- Screen medical records and abstract relevant data for oncology research
- Coordinate blood draws and process samples, including Ficoll separation
- Maintain databases correlating samples with patient medical information
- Perform long-term follow-up and request ongoing medical data
- Act as a liaison between UC San Diego Health researchers and the community
- Ensure strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and NCI guidelines
Skills Required for Biorepository Associate Role:
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, oncology, and medical terminology
- Experience handling biospecimens in a clinical research environment
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in computer applications, databases, and word processing
